Tasglann Nan Eilean Siar (Hebridean Archives)

Introduction

Tasglann nan Eilean Siar (Hebridean Archives) was established in April 2010 with funding from the European Regional Development Fund, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar and Comunn na Gàidhlig.

This three year project created a professionally staffed archive service for the Western Isles.  The Tasglann makes accessible to the public the records of the Comhairle, its predecessor bodies and collections of records that have been gifted or deposited with the Comhairle.

Additionally, the Tasglann offers advice and practical support to those who care for archives including businesses, clubs, societies, individuals and the Comainn Eachdraidh.

Now based at Lews Castle, the Archives service continues to build on the foundations laid by the Tasglann nan Eilean Siar project.
