Outer Hebrides Child Protection

Information for Practitioners

In this area you will discover a wide range of information and advice about child protection and keeping children and young people safe. You will also find many useful electronic links and downloads.

Also included is information and advice about National and local publications, child protection training opportunities and an electronic library of useful child protection resources for practitioners both local and national.  Please use the links on the right to access these area.

The Scottish Government, in conjunction with Child Protection Committees, have agreed a vision for all Scotland’s children, namely, that they should be confident individuals, effective contributors, successful learners and responsible citizens.  They will achieve this by being safe, healthy, achieving, nurtured, active, responsible, respected and included.

This aspiration arises from the GIRFEC approach of Getting it Right for Every Child which is a way of working that builds on research and practice evidence to help practitioners focus on what makes a positive difference for children and young people. GIRFEC principles thread through all existing policy, practice strategy and legislation affecting children young persons and their families.
