Public Protection Training
This training opportunity set at basic awareness level is designed for all front line staff in the public, private and voluntary sectors across the Western Isles. It includes those working in Education and Children’s Services, Housing, Social and Community Services, Health, Police and Voluntary Organisations. Essentially, everyone who has a direct, indirect or occasional working contact with children, young people and families, vulnerable adults, victims of domestic abuse or anyone who requires support in respect of drug and/or alcohol misuse.
This training provides a broad outline of national and local Public Protection policies, procedures and guidance and helps with understanding signs and symptoms of abuse, neglect and/or exploitation.
Specific Workforce Training (Formerly known as level 2)
This training level is designed for front line staff in the public, private and voluntary sectors across the Western Isles, who have a remit within their service or organisation for supporting vulnerable children, directly or indirectly including through their supervision of staff. This includes those working in Education and Children’s Services, Housing, Social and Community Services, Health, Police, Voluntary Organisations and everyone else who has a direct, indirect or occasional working contact with children, young people and families.
This training is more specialist in nature and includes both preventative and investigative aspects of child abuse and neglect. This will include key individuals from agencies explaining their roles and responsibilities in child protection investigations from the moment of the concern being raised to appropriate child protection measures being set in place. Due to the considerable benefits of multi agency audiences and the popularity of these courses a maximum of 4 places will be allotted to each agency.
This will be a full days training. (Teas and coffees will be provided)
