Launch Of Vandalism Action Team’s Presentational Package

Launch Of Vandalism Action Team's Presentational Package

On Friday 27th February 2009, The Outer Hebrides Community Safety Partnership’s Vandalism Action Team’s Presentational package was launched at Stornoway Primary School.

Councillor Charlie Nicolson Chairman of the Partnership opened the launch which was followed by a presentation to the assembled guests and primary seven children.

The Vandalism Action Team was set up to create an educational presentational package to deal with vandalism litter, antisocial behaviour and respect.

This package deals with all these issues through a CD with 2 power point presentations for lower and upper school through to secondary school. The CD also has work lessons, posters and photographs to assist the presenter in delivering the package.

The Vandalism Action Team is a short life working group made up of the Police, Antisocial Behaviour Officer, Environmental Health Team Leader, Community Environment Officers, Community Safety Support Officer, Community Education and the Education Department.

Stornoway Councillors Angus Campbell, Keith Dodson, Angus McCormack along with the Vice Chair of the Environmental and Protective Services Committee Kenneth Murray, Inspector Steve Black Northern Constabulary and members of the Outer Hebrides Community Safety Partnership and Vandalism Action Team were present.

Roddy Mackay Community Safety Sergeant with Northern Constabulary said: “The vandalism action team are delighted that this very worthwhile project has now been launched. It will be available to all Western Isles Schools next week and other Community Groups such as youth clubs. The package has been put together to highlight the issues of vandalism, anti social behaviour, litter and respect. We hope that it will assist in reducing these types of crimes/behaviour but will also highlight to children the need to respect each other and other people’s property.”
