CCTV Signage in Stornoway Town Centre

Members of the Stornoway CCTV Network Group met this week to mark the installation of Gaelic and English information signs in around the approaches to the town centre.

The 19 new signs were jointly commissioned by the Comhairle Social and Community Services Department and Sgioba na Gaidhlig.

Iain MacAulay, Director Social and Community Services, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, commented, “We are delighted with the progress of the CCTV Network Group, and its joint work with the Community Safety Partnership in encouraging and advancing the promotion of safety and public reassurance.

“I am especially pleased that this has been a co-venture with the support and assistance of Sgioba na Gaidhlig from the Chief Executive’s Department.”

Convenor Alex MacDonald added, “The extension of the scheme with bi-lingual signs will further enhance the provision of the CCTV Network Group and Community Safety Partnership.

The Outer Hebrides is widely recognised as being one of Scotland’s safest communities, this kind of close partnership working both consolidates and enhances this reputation.”
