National Poop Scoop Week
This year's National Poop Scoop Week runs from 23 - 29 June 2008.
This year’s National Poop Scoop Week will run from 23rd - 29th June and local authorities up and down the country will be running campaigns to urge dog-owners everywhere to clean up after their pooches to make 2008 the cleanest summer ever.
Though there are over 6 million dogs in the UK, it is just a small minority of owners who let the rest down and gives dogs a bad name. We are urging all dog owners to get behind the campaign and help the country’s canine citizens.
There will be an information stand in the foyer of the Council Offices, Sandwick Road, Stornoway from Tuesday 24th – Friday 27th June. There you will be able to pick up your free poop scoop bags. During this week there will be various information on display and information leaflets on dogs and the law that you are free to take away with you.
- Grab It – Always keep a supply of plastic bags near your dog’s lead so that you don’t forget to take a poop scoop bag with you on every walk. Simply insert your hand in the plastic bag and pick up your dogs waste. It’s easy and not as bad as you think!
- Bag It – Carefully turn the plastic bag inside out and your dog’s mess will then be ‘bagged’.
- Bin It - Dispose of your bag in a ‘poop’ bin. Contrary to popular belief, dog waste can also be put into a public litterbin if specific dog waste bin is not provided.
