A key component of the Business & Regeneration Support function of the Economic Development Service is the Regeneration team. Formerly known as the Community Support or Community Co-ordinator Team its purpose - following a reassessment of the Comhairle’s priorities under its Corporate Strategy, the Outer Hebrides Community Planning Partnership (OHCPP) Economic Regeneration Strategy and the Single Outcome Agreement (SOA) - is to align service delivery on-the-ground to the strategic economic development priorities of communities across the Outer Hebrides.

The Regeneration team concentrates primarily on the delivery of economic outcomes from community-led projects - working flexibly in acknowledgment of the need to be responsive to the fast-moving, rapidly changing environment in which the service operates. Projects that necessitate a concentrated effort of team resources to achieve the greatest economic development benefits for communities take priority - with the team of non-area-specific Regeneration Officers addressing emerging issues as they arise in order to maximise opportunities.

A summary of current work is provided below:

  • Advice and support to community economic regeneration projects
  • Pre and post community buy-out support
  • Delivering the Comhairle’s CCGF
  • Deliver the SG RCGF
  • Project development advice – feasibility studies, design briefs, procurement
  • Developing partnership approaches to funding
  • Identification of new and innovative funding initiatives
