Mission Statement

“The Comhairle will work with its community and other Partners to help shape the Outer Hebrides as a confident community and an attractive place to live, work and do business.”

Following a period of public consultation from July to October 2012, the Comhairle’s Corporate Strategy 2012-2017 was approved by the Comhairle on 1 November 2012.  The strategy sets out the priorities and strategic direction of the Comhairle for the period 2012-17 under the themes of population; economy; education and training; health and wellbeing, communities; natural and cultural resources; and services. 

While the Comhairle recognises that there are challenging times ahead, its aspiration over the next council term is to create a confident council, develop effective partnerships, and to work with confident communities to meet these challenges.

It is likely that the Comhairle will produce a limited print run of the strategy document, but in the meantime, the Corporate Strategy can be downloaded in full or accessed by clicking on the individual sections below:
