Childminding

Childminders provide an invaluable service offering opportunities for care, learning and play for children in the childminder's own home.

Childminders are self-employed and can offer a flexible childcare option that fits around your lifestyle and puts your child at the centre.  Your child could benefit from important developmental experiences such as socialising with other children and learning through active play both indoors and outdoors, all within a nurturing safe family home environment.

Childminders are regulated and inspected by the Care Inspectorate. A list of the registered providers in the Western Isles is available from the Family Information Service. (Please note, newly registered providers may not appear on the website immediately)

The Scottish Childminding Association website holds a wealth of information about childminding.

If you are interested in becoming a childminder please contact us on 01851 822655 for more information and details of our next Introduction to Childminding course.
