Pre-School and Nursery Education
Comhairle nan Eilean Siar has a statutory duty to provide a funded pre-school education place for all children from the school term following their third birthdays until they are ready to start school. We offer free places at local authority run nurseries and in registered centres in the private and voluntary sectors in partnership with the council.
Gaelic and English providers are available. The pre-school education information leaflet has more information about eligibility, the curriculum, and location map of providers.
Parents should contact the pre-school provider of their choice to apply for a place. A list of the registered providers in the Western Isles is available from the Childcare Information Service , telephone 01851 822282.
