Election Administration
Comhairle nan Eilean Siar is responsible for the administration of the following elections:-
- Local Government
- Community Council
- Scottish Parliament
- Westminster
- European Parliament
- By-elections
Special elections such as referendums and community related elections are held as and when required.
The Fixed-term Parliaments Act 2011 introduced fixed term elections for the first time to the Westminster Parliament. On this basis, the major elections planned for the coming four years will include:

In addition to the above the Scottish Government have confirmed that a referendum on independence will be held in the second half of its term.
Register to Vote
To be able to vote your name must be on the Register of Electors and you must be 18 years or over on the day of the election. To be entered onto the register you must be a British, Irish or Commonwealth citizen who is resident in the UK. If you are not on the register of electors then you will not be able to vote.
