Review of Polling Districts and Polling Places
Comhairle nan Eilean Siar gives notice that it is undertaking a review of Polling Districts and Polling Places for Na h-Eileanan an Iar. This review is being undertaken in terms of the Representation of the People Act 1983, as amended by the Electoral Administration Act 2006.
The purpose of the review is to ensure that all electors within Na h-Eileanan an Iar have such reasonable facilities for voting as practicable and to ensure that Polling Places are accessible to electors, including those who are disabled.
The Comhairle would welcome representations from any elector within Na h-Eileanan an Iar in relation to the size and boundaries of Polling Districts and the location and suitability of Polling Places. The Comhairle also welcomes comments or representations from any Councillors within the area, past or potential candidates, local political parties or any person or body with expertise in access for persons with any type of disability.
Representations may be made in writing to the Election Office, Council Offices, Sandwick Road, Stornoway, Isle of Lewis, HS1 2BW or by email to elections@cne-siar.gov.uk.
All representations must be received no later than 5pm on Monday 23 January 2012.
All submissions, relevant correspondence and decisions relating to the review process will be made available for public inspection. Following completion of the consultation period a Report will be submitted to the Comhairle for consideration at its Meeting on 15 February 2012.
