Comhairle Budget 2016-18
In the light of continuing pressure on public sector funding the Comhairle approved its initial Budget Strategy 2016-18 (PDF, 290K) in April 2015.
In November 2015 the Comhairle held a series of six public meetings and invited comments on the following questions:
- What are the service priorities for this community?
- Has the Comhairle got the balance of funding between services right?
- Should the Comhairle be looking to increase charges for services?
- What are the views on the continuation of the Council Tax Freeze?
- Are there any opportunities for the Comhairle to realise savings?
The Notes of These Meetings (PDF, 280K) will assist Members in the next stage of the process.
On Wednesday 2 December 2015 the Comhairle approved an Updated Budget Strategy (PDF, 80K) which set out proposals for Workforce Planning and initial options for budget choices.
The Comhairle held an additional meeting on Tuesday 13 January 2016 to consider the Settlement and what budget choices to consult on. The Main Report (PDF, 40K) and Supplementary Report (PDF, 58K) set out the overall position and recommended areas of consultation.
