Application for Pairc Wind Farm

An application for a 205 megawatt, 57 turbine wind farm on the Pairc peninsula, Isle of Lewis, was submitted to the Scottish Executive on 1 June 2007 by Scottish and Southern Energy.

The application will be determined by the Scottish Ministers, and the Comhairle is the Principal Consultee in the process.

The official date for submitting representations to the Scottish Government and the Comhairle has now passed (26 July 2007),   However, the Scottish Government will continue to take representations throughout the process.

The Comhairle is currently in the process of reviewing the application, and subsequent representations, and is preparing a report to be considered by the Environment and Protective Services (EPS) Committee in the first week of December 2007.

The recommendations of the EPS committee will be considered by the Comhairle at its meeting on 13 December 2007. The recommendations of this meeting will then be made by the Comhairle to the Scottish Ministers (the determining body).
