Licensing

Liquor Licensing

The Licensing Scotland 2005 Act is now in force. The transition period commenced 1 February 2008 and will last until 31 August 2009.

If you have a current licence it will continue in force until 31 August 2009 which is the end of the transition period. The Licensing Board will continue to deal with a number of applications under the 1976 Act until the end of transition.

Existing licence holders will have to apply for premises licenses and where appropriate personal licenses. There is a strict timetable for premises licence applications.

In order to take advantage of certain transitional rights, applications for premises licenses need to be made by one of 4 dates, depending on the month the current licence was due for renewal.

Which one applies to you depends on the expiry month of your 1976 Act licence (your present licence). The expiry year is irrelevant.
