Local Planning
Western Isles Local Plan (Adopted 5th June 2008)
Introduction
Comhairle nan Eilean Siar adopted the statutory Western Isles Local Plan on 5th June 2008.
Working with the approved Western Isles Structure Plan (2003), the Local Plan forms the Development Plan for the area and sets out detailed land use policies and proposals to help guide future development and land use change in the islands.
The Western Isles Local Plan replaces all previous local plans and along with the current Structure Plan provides development plan coverage for the entire Western Isles.
The Local Plan process includes several stages of consultation, and a Consultation and Publicity Statement (PDF 1.5MB) has been produced.
The Local Plan has been subject to a SEA and Appropriate Assessment.
As part of the Scottish Governments EPlanning programme you can view the current Western Isles Local Plan online by using our Online Local Development Plan
