The Scottish Education Minister today announced that 4 more councils were to take up Public Private Partnership (PPP) investment. The Executive announcement added that a decision is expected on the bid from Comhairle nan Eilean Siar shortly.
Comhairle nan Eilean Siar’s Chairman of Education, Cllr. Norman L Macdonald, said:
“Formulating a bid which articulates the PPP model for an area like the Western Isles has been a long and complex business. However, we are confident that the particular circumstances of the Western Isles and the merits of the Comhairle’s PPP bid will be recognised in a separate announcement by the Scottish Executive in the very near future.”
The Comhairle’s PPP bid involves proposals for new and refurbished school buildings in 4 locations in the Western Isles - Point, the West Side, The Nicolson Institute and Sir E. Scott School.
