Comhairle nan Eilean Siar has set up a website to provide information
on the Lewis Wind Power application. The site, www.cne-siar.gov.uk/lewiswindpower
also allows comments to be sent by email.
An application for 234 three-megawatt turbines in Lewis was submitted to the Scottish Executive by Lewis Wind Power on 4th November.
Cllr Angus Nicolson, Chairman of Environmental Services, said: “It is important to use all means of communication to ensure as wide an audience as possible has access to the relevant information on this proposal and this website is an extension of traditional methods of communication. The Comhairle is a principal consultee and will consider comments received, but the application will be determined by the Scottish Ministers. It is therefore important to submit any representations people want to have taken into account by the determining authority to the Scottish Executive within the period of 28 days from now. Copies can be sent to the Comhairle, but originals must go to the Scottish Executive.”
