An HMIE report into Community Learning and Development in the Western Isles has found that Comhairle nan Eilean Siar and its partners are making a good range of provision for young people and adults.
The report concluded that young people and adults were very positive about their learning experiences and their achievements through learning. The report added that ‘almost all community facilities were of a high standard’ and community organisations were ‘active and vibrant’.
Key strengths identified by the report included ‘the imaginative and relevant range of informal learning opportunities for young people, the quality of the learning experience for young people and adults, the achievements of young people and adults through informal learning, the quality of Community Learning and Development provision for young people and adults through the medium of Gaelic, the enthusiasm, commitment and motivation of the Comhairle team and the effective operational partnership work between a range of agencies and groups.’
Cllr Callum Iain Graham, Chairman of Arts and Leisure, said: “It is encouraging that a range of strengths have been identified and we will build on this report to continue improving services for the communities that we serve.”
