Comhairle nan Eilean Siar has welcomed the First Minister’s support for rebuilding infrastructure in the Western Isles following the damage experienced as a result of January’s storm.

Convener Alex MacDonald said: “The Comhairle and the Scottish Executive have been working together to find an appropriate way forward for renewing the infrastructure damaged during January’s storm. Today was an important step forward in that process and we welcome the First Minister’s close and continuing interest and the indications of support and assistance that we have received today”.
