| Comhairle Draws Up Storm Damage Repair and Improvement Action Plan |

Following the successful visit to the Uists yesterday by the First Minister, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar has announced that a detailed action plan is now being prepared to tackle repair and improvement work on infrastructure damaged during January’s storm. The First Minister’s commitment of financial assistance from the Scottish Executive has given the green light to the Comhairle to proceed with works on infrastructure and to consult with local communities on how best to proceed. The Convener of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, Alex MacDonald, said: “It was very encouraging to receive confirmation that the Scottish Executive would contribute to the costs of building a new school for Balivanich and to the costs of rebuilding and improving our transport infrastructure. Much work has already been done but the Chief Executive and his Management Team are now preparing a detailed action plan and will be consulting with local communities”.
