24 residential properties at Borve in the Western Isles are to
benefit from a £185k investment in new sewerage facilities.
Work has now started on the scheme which is the result of a partnership
between Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, Scottish Water and SEPA.
Convener Alex MacDonald said: “The Comhairle recognises the
importance of modern facilities in sustaining communities and we
are pleased that this partnership between the Comhairle and Scottish
Water has enabled this project to proceed. The Comhairle recognises
that there are similar problems in other parts of the Western Isles
and whilst it is very much to be welcomed that work is now underway
on this project I would hope that similar schemes can also be undertaken
in other areas in the near future”
Local Councillor Archie Campbell said: “This project has
been a long time coming to fruition and I am pleased that the Comhairle
has taken a lead role in making the finance available to proceed
with these new facilities.”
The project is expected to take about twelve weeks to complete.
