Trading Standards Officers from Comhairle Nan Eilean Siar are issuing a warning to Hospitality businesses in the Western Isles to be on the look out for tourist guide invoices.

Businesses may previously have had a free entry in a directory, but are now being asked to pay around 1000 Euros.

A Trading Standards spokesperson said ‘ you should always check the small print on any order form. You may be inadvertently signing up into an expensive long-term advertising contract. Unfortunately some of these directories are based outwith the European Union making it difficult to pursue any recourse.’
