Committee Approval For Windfarms |

| The Environmental Services Committee of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar today indicated support for an application by Lewis Wind Power for a windfarm in the north of Lewis. There are a series of conditions and the Committee has also asked for the removal of 25 of the most sensitive turbines should the Scottish Executive decide to grant planning permission. The application was for 234 turbines.
The Committee also supported an application for a 133 turbine windfarm on the Eishken estate, again with a series of conditions. The Environmental Services recommendation now goes to a full meeting of the Comhairle tomorrow night.
