REPORT BY SOCIAL WORK INSPECTION AGENCY (SWIA) AUGUST 2005 - INSPECTION INTO THE CARE AND PROTECTION
OF CHILDREN IN THE WESTERN ISLES

The Comhairle has reservations about the level of detail contained in the draft report which might be distressing to the children at the centre of the case. The prime concern of the Comhairle is the welfare of the children involved and issues of privacy relating to them. The Comhairle has therefore made legal representations to SWIA on the draft report.

Over the past year the Comhairle has been working with its partner agencies on new strategies and procedures to improve child protection provision in the Western Isles.
