Comhairle Nan Eilean Siar has issued its first fixed penalty fine
to a dog-owner for not cleaning up after their dog fouled in a public
place.
Cllr Angus Nicolson, Chairman of Environmental Services, said:
"Dog fouling is anti-social and can pose a health risk - particularly
to young children.
Whilst most dog owners are responsible and comply with the law some
are still not getting the message to clean up after their dogs.
The council will continue to enforce the regulations".
A fixed fine of £40 can be levied on owners who allow their
dog to foul in public places and do not clean up afterwards.
Public places include beaches and the castle grounds.
