Comhairle nan Eilean Siar has confirmed that some confidential information regarding staff personal payroll details was accessible on the Comhairle’s intranet site for a period of time. An investigation is being carried out to ascertain exactly what information was present and for how long. An external IT expert has been asked to assist with this process. The investigation is also looking at how the breach occurred. Once the facts have been established the Comhairle will take appropriate action and offer advice on what actions, if any, members of staff may wish to take.
