Meeting with Tom McCabe, Finance Minister

Representatives of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar met the Scottish Executive Finance Minister, Tom McCabe MSP, and Alasdair Morrison MSP on Monday 20 December to discuss further funding from the Scottish Executive for the remainder of the Western Isles Storm Damage Response Programme.

The Vice-Convener, Angus Campbell, was accompanied by the Chief Executive, Malcolm Burr and the Director of Technical Services, Iain Mackinnon to the meeting at the Scottish Parliament.

The Vice-Convener Angus Campbell said “This was a useful meeting and the Minister listened carefully to our case. We outlined what work had been undertaken to date and it was agreed to meet again in January to further discuss additional funding for coastal protection and infrastructure repair work with all the relevant Executive agencies. The Minister also confirmed that there was money available for eligible projects under the Coast Protection Act and the Comhairle will be submitting an application very early in the New Year”.
