Comhairle nan Eilean Siar has received a further dividend payment of funds from the liquidators of BCCI of just under £1.6m

The Chairman of the Comhairle’s Policy and Resources Committee, Cllr. Angus Campbell, warned of the need for prudence in how the money was used: “It will be a matter for the Comhairle to take a decision on but I would urge caution in how this money is used - we have many pressures on both Revenue and Capital - we're seeking clarification on what category this will come into. There are tight times to come so it will be essential to be careful in its use but there is no doubt that this is welcome news for the Comhairle and the Western Isles.”
