Comhairle nan Eilean Siar and Western Isles Enterprise have developed a strategy to support the growth of businesses in the creative industries, and would like to hear feedback.

The ‘creative industries’ are an important driver for economic growth, with the environment, culture and heritage of the Outer Hebrides inspiring a creative energy and production which makes a significant economic contribution to the islands. This includes activity in arts, crafts, film and television, publishing, and new media.

The Outer Hebrides Creative Industries Strategy sets out the approach that Comhairle nan Eilean Siar and Western Isles Enterprise will take to supporting the continued growth of the creative industries sector. The draft strategy for 2006-2009 can be found at www.cne-siar.gov.uk/eds/creative.htm

The Outer Hebrides Creative Industries Strategy forms part of the Outer Hebrides Cultural Strategy.

The Comhairle and WIE are currently building up an e-mailing list of creative industries business, who will receive quarterly updates on initiatives and support that could help their business.
