Safetywise the Multi Agency Accident Prevention group have organised a series of events to mark this years’ Child Safety week which runs from the 23rd to the 29th of June.
Safetywise Red Cross members will provide First Aid demonstrations in the Lewis Sports Centre on Tuesday 24th and Thursday 26th June at 10.45 and 14.30 on both days. The demonstrations will include advice on basic First Aid procedures as well as how to give Rescue Breaths and Chest Compressions.
The Western Isles Childcare partnership are setting up a child safety display in the Stornoway Library The display includes child safety information, leaflets and a video covering various accident prevention issues.
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency have organised an exhibition on water safety at the ferry terminal in Stornoway and in the Library at Sgoil Lionacleit. The display features Safety advice posters, advice leaflets and children’s colouring books.
Safetywise partners at the Western Isles Health Board Health Promotion department are distributing regarding Sun Safety information. There will be a variety of leaflets available from the Health Centre in Benbecula, GPs surgeries in Barra and Tarbert and the Library in Stornoway. Safetywise hope that children, parents and carers will be able to see at least one of these accident prevention displays during Child Safety Week.
