Comhairle Welcomes Marine Harvest Discussions
Comhairle nan Eilean Siar has welcomed initial discussions with Marine Harvest on the company’s future plans for the Western Isles.
Leader Angus Campbell said: “It was interesting to hear the company’s plans for the future in the Islands and the possibility of additional jobs would indeed be welcome. Obviously these proposals are at a very early stage and there are many issues which will be subject to further discussions. Consultation with the Comhairle and, most importantly, with local communities, will be vital as Marine Harvest take their plans forward. Potentially there could be significant benefits for the Western Isles and we look forward to working with the company and maximising those benefits”.
Comhairle Nan Eilean Siar A’ Cur Fàilte Air Comhraidhean Le Marine Harvest
Tha Comhairle nan Eilean Siar air fàilte a chur air còmhraidhean a ghabh àite le Marine Harvest mu na tha iad am beachd a’ dhèanamh san t-àm ri teachd as na h-Eileanan an Iar.
Thuirt Ceannard na Comhairle, Aonghas Caimbeul: “Bha e inntinneach cluinntinn na tha Marine Harvest am beachd a dhèanamh as na h-Eileanan agus bhiodh fàilte air obraichean ùra. Tha na molaidhean seo aig tràth ìre agus tha mòran chuspairean air a bheil feum air barrachd còmhraidhean. Tha Co-chomhairle eadar a’ bhuidheann, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar agus na coimhearsnachdan ionadail cudromach dha rìreabh, agus bidh seo deatamach ann a bhith a’ toirt na planaichean aca air adhart. Dh’fhaodadh buannachdan a bhith ann do na h-Eileanan agus tha sinn a’ coimhead air adhart ri bhith ag obair le Marine Harvest gus na planaichean seo a thoirt air adhart”.
