Comhairle and Police Issue Winter Travel Warning
Comhairle nan Eilean Siar and the Police are advising drivers in the Western Isles to take extra care over the next few days as low temperatures combined with showers of rain, hail, sleet or snow are likely to cause icy stretches on roads.
The Comhairle, like neighbouring authorities, is taking all reasonable steps to maintain ice-free roads but prolonged, continuing, wintry weather conditions and dwindling resources mean having to direct gritting at higher priority routes.
The public are advised not to travel unless it is necessary. If travelling is required drivers should take appropriate precautions.
