Delegates from the Western Isles are attending a major conference in Motherwell on young people's issues. Young people from throughout Scotland are attending the conference and the Western Isles is represented by Rachael Chaplin, Emma MacDonald and Susan Mackay who are all members of the Pointers Youth Committee.

The event has been organised by the Scottish Executive working together with Community Learning Scotland; Children in Scotland; Save the Children; SCCC; Who Cares?; Young Scot; the International Teledemocracy Centre and Youthlink Scotland.

The Youth Summit will form the basis of work to develop a 'Scottish Action Programme for Youth' by first establishing how young people wish to be consulted and then determining which issues they want to be consulted about.

This summit is the first of its kind to be held in Scotland.
