Comhairle nan Eilean Siar PRESS RELEASE 06 November 2000 For Use: Immediately | |
A computerised membership system has recently been installed at the Nicolson Lewis Sports Centre which allows the public to buy a membership to cover all the facilities at the Sports Centre and pay monthly by Standing Order.
Tony Wade, the Sports Facility Manager, said: "This is a way in which we can make our facilities more affordable - with an annual membership starting at as little as £5 per week, we firmly believe this represents great value for money".
Bill Howat, the recently appointed Chief Executive of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, said: "These are exciting times in terms of developing the provision of sports facilities. The Comhairle has allocated £3 million over the next couple of years to upgrade the current facility - and the fact that I have signed up as an annual member will be a good incentive to improve my own fitness levels"
Details of the scheme are available at the Sports Centre or by calling the Information Line on 702603.
