PRESS RELEASE

For Use: Immediately

Survey of Comhairle Tenants

A major survey of the Comhairle’s tenants is to be carried out during November and December. The purpose of the survey, which will be carried out by System Three, is to find out what the tenants think of the current service provided by the Comhairle. Tenants will also be asked what the main priorities for investment should be in order to improve the Housing Service. A team of interviewers from System Three, who are Scotland’s largest research company, will be calling at almost 500 council houses to ask tenants about their views.

The survey will be one of the largest carried out of Comhairle tenants and will, for the first time, also give people on the Comhairles Waiting List a chance to have a say. Scottish Homes tenants in the Western Isles will also be included in the Survey. Cllr.

Norman M. Macleod, Vice-Chairman of Housing, said: “It is important that the Comhairle continues to develop and improve services and that the process is undertaken with input from the users of the service. This survey will allow tenants to put their views on the Housing service the Comhairle provides.”

The survey has been commissioned as part of the Comhairle’s New Housing Partnership Feasibility Study. The Feasibility Study, which is being carried out by DTZ Pieda, is looking at the current housing service and will be making recommendations on the future delivery of the Housing Service. The results of the Tenants Survey will form an important part of the overall Study.

More information on the Tenants Survey and the Feasibility Study can be obtained from Iain Watson, the Project Manager, in the Housing Department on 01851 700131.
