Boost For Comunn Eachdradh Bharabhais agus Bhru

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar provided a major boost for Comunn Eachdradh Bharabhais agus Bhru with the agreement of the Education Committee to lease land to the historical society to provide a base for their activities.

Education Chairman Norman L. Macdonald, said:

"Comunn Eachdradh Bharabhais agus Bhru is a very successful Historical Society with a current membership exceeding 100. Organisations like this provide a useful and important educational record of our heritage and it is important to support their efforts. I am pleased that the Education Committee has been able to provide the land which will form the base for a more permanent and accessible centre for their activities.

The Comun Eachdradh are also important to our tourism trade. They provide community based focal points of interest to a growing sector of the market dealing with culture, heritage and geneology. We want to see more and better centres spread throughout our islands".

Comunn Eachdradh Bharabhais agus Bhru hopes to gain charitable status soon, which along with the acquisition of land for a building, will allow applications for funding sources to be processed.
