Major Housing Conference

A major conference on Housing issues and the future of Housing in the Western Isles, jointly hosted by Comhairle nan Eilean Siar and the Western Isles Residents Forum, will be held in Stornoway on 5th and 6th December, the Comhairle's Housing Committee agreed today.

The conference will look at the potential impact of the forthcoming Housing Bill, provide a financial overview of the Comhairle's Housing Revenue Account from 2001 - 2006, consult with tenants on the Housing budgets for the years 2001/2002 and enable DTZ Pieda to present the findings of the initial option appraisal on the future of social housing in the Western Isles.

Housing Chairman Cllr. George Lonie, said: "This will provide an opportunity for discussion on a wide range of issues at a time of change in the Housing sector. It is also an opportunity for tenants' representatives to give their views on the future of the housing service in the Western Isles."
