Bids are being invited for youth cafes throughout the Western Isles following approval for the final part of the funding package at last week's meeting of the Policy and Resources Committee of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar.
Chairman of Policy and Resources, Mr. Roddy Murray, said: "This is another step forward by the Comhairle in improving services for young people. The Comhairle and the Scottish Executive are supporting the development by making £50,000 available for the establishment of youth cafes in the islands.
The purpose of the funding is to provide a facility where young people can access services and information, put ideas into action, have a say in their community, learn new skills and meet socially.
