Comhairle nan Eilean Siar PRESS RELEASE 08 May 2001 For Use: Immediately | |
Murdo Macleod, who has been Acting Director of Education with Comhairle nan Eilean Siar for the last two years, has been appointed to the post on a permanent basis. Mr Macleod, who comes from Leurbost, is a graduate of Glasgow University. He was appointed as Assistant Director of Education in 1986 and Depute Director in 1995. His wife Morag comes from Wellington, New Zealand, although her parents were originally from Callanish and Leurbost. They have three daughters, Hannah, Elizabeth and Kirsteen who are aged thirteen, eleven and nine.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr Macleod said I am honoured and delighted.
It has been a privilege to serve the Comhairle and the public in this capacity
and will indeed continue to be. The task is also made easier because of excellent
staff, colleagues and very able members. I look forward to implementing a range
of initiatives designed to enhance the quality of education services throughout
the region and my aim is that the individual requirements of each pupil, insofar
as is practicable, be catered for.
