Ask The Experts

A new, on-line service for young people to get advice on health matters is available through Comhairle nan Eilean Siar's young persons' web-site.

“ Ask the Experts” is a service where young people between the ages of 16 and 25 can ask Health related questions and get timely, authoritative answers and advice from advisers drawn from a mix of professionals, volunteers and people with firsthand personal experience.

The service is provided by Western Isles Health Promotions and Outerhebyouth. It is internet based and people send their queries via an on-line form. Queries are responded to by either e-mail or on a notice board on the website. It provides a practical, alternative means for young people, who may not wish to discuss issues with their GP face to face, to receive professional advice.

A spokesperson for the Western Isles Health Promotion Department, said: “We welcome this site as it provides a wide range of health information relevant to young people, and the ‘Ask the Experts’ section allows people to get replies to specific issues.”

The service is totally confidential and no personal details are used.
