Internal Audit function of Comhairle is one of the best in Scotland

The internal audit function of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar has been highlighted by the local government watchdog, Audit Scotland, as one of the best in Scotland.

Vice-Convener of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar and Chairman of the Policy and Resources Committee, Mr. Roddy Murray, said:

"The Comhairle has been placed among the top four in Scotland in terms of its internal audit functions. This reflects the importance which the Comhairle attaches to ensuring that robust systems of internal control are in place over its stewardship of public funds.
"However, we cannot be complacent and Audit Scotland has highlighted the fact that there is still room for improvement in all councils. We shall be addressing this in the coming months. I congratulate those working in the Comhairle's internal audit service for the quality of their work."
