Stornoway Primary Open Day
The first Fun Day event of the year is traditionally the Stornoway Primary Open Day. So, the new Waste Aware Mobile Unit was dispatched with flags flying for its first public outing. The Waste Aware Team had eagerly anticipated the day and were not disappointed with the result.
The event was well attended, opened by the Lewis Pipe Band and with the usual stalls and sales. The weather forecast had not been good but as it turned out the day was bright and sunny with a nice cooling breeze.
Visitors to the mobile unit were able to play the computer games and watch the recycling video. The Team had a busy afternoon talking to people about the Pilot Kerbside Collection and Recycling in general.
Sharon managed to kill two birds with one stone. She combined her Waste Aware duties with her bass drumming in the Lewis Pipe Band. Well done to Sharon!
Thomas became an honorary team member for the day and he was charged with the task of counting the visitors to the mobile unit. The Team were amazed to find out that in the 3 hours of the open day, they had received 157 visitors. A busy and productive afternoon.
