Uig Gala Day - 2nd July
Although the morning had started with some promise the rain started falling at lunchtime for the Uig Gala Day. This did not dampen the enthusiasm of the visitors and volunteers alike. The Waste Aware Team were there with the mobile unit to help bring the Reduce Reuse Recycle message to the community.
A steady stream of visitors to the mobile unit throughout the day were able to find out more about Recycling in the Western Isles and see some of the products that are produced locally. It was good to hear that many of the visitors already visit Recycling Points in their community
Amid the sounds of Police sirens, helicopter displays and the Lewis Pipeband the Waste Aware Team were able to answer peoples questions and offer advice. Some visitors had ideas of their own as to how they could help to Reduce Reuse and Recycle.
A useful afternoon for the Waste Aware Team and many thanks to the organisers of the Uig Gala Day for making it all possible.
