Going Green at Tong School
Tong School
Tong School received its third Green Flag Inspection from Mrs Paula Love, Eco-Schools Assessment Officer for West Scotland on Tuesday 10th May. The pupils represented the school extremely well and shared their enthusiasm for all things green!
A garden tour with the ‘Green Team’ and Pupil Council was a particular highlight. Mrs Love also visited each class and children discussed their Eco work. Pupils in P5-7 proudly showed their model of Tong School made using a variety of recycled items. The morning concluded with a power point presentation showcasing all the Eco activities with which the school is engaged. P5-7 pupils ably delivered this interesting presentation.
Mrs Love then proceeded to delight pupils and staff with her announcement that Tong School thoroughly deserved its Third Green Flag. Tong School is the first school in the Western Isles to receive this award.
Mrs Love commended the school’s ongoing commitment to Environmental issues and remarked on the team spirit which was apparent throughout her visit.
