Talk to Iochdar School in Taigh Chearsabhagh – 4 June 2007

Caitriona was asked by the Arts Officer, Andy MacKinnon, to visit Taigh Chearsabhagh when Iochdar School made their trip to give a talk about waste and it’s impact on the environment.  This was in conjunction with an exhibition which was on show in Gallery 1 called ‘Fragility of Flight’.  Schools had been involved in making hundreds of origami birds and planes made from recycled paper to which were attached messages linking air travel to declining bird population and climate change & greenhouse gases.  The Waste Aware Officer was quizzed by the pupils on various topics related to waste in the Uists including organics, the car crusher, landfill and recycling.
