Yellow Woods Winners 2006On Wednesday 13th September, an awards ceremony was held in the Woodlands Centre in Stornoway for the prize winners in the Western Isles Yellow Woods Challenge 2006. Pupils and teachers from the winning schools enjoyed a day out where they met Kirk, got their photographs taken, had some lunch and of course, picked up their prizes! For the second year running, the Yellow Woods Challenge was a tremendous success. A total of 4,611 were collected from each school in the Western Isles, weighing in at 3 ½ tonnes! The directories were transferred to the new Creed Park Environmental Centre in Stornoway to be recycled into compost. The results were:
£100 for most directories collected in total went to Stornoway Primary School. Sharon Mackinnon, organiser of the Western Isles Challenge would like to say a big Thank You to each and every school in the Western Isles for taking part this year and for making it such a fun Challenge.
