Iochdar School,
built in 1963, is situated adjacent to the township road of Iochdar. It is approximately
half a mile from the main road through the island of South Uist in the Western
Isles of Scotland. The school caters for boys and girls from Primary One
through to Primary Seven. Pupils attend from Peninerine, Howbeg, Howmore,
Drimisdale, Stilligarry, Grogarry, West Gerinish, Lochcarnan, the township of
Iochdar itself which is made up of several smaller villages (Ardivachair,
Kilaulay, Linique, Balgarva, Ardnamonie, Bualadubh, Carnan and Ardmore),
Creagorry, Hacklet, Craigstrome, Torlum and Liniclate. The school is
non-denominational.
