Many people in the Western Isles will have contact with Social Work at some point in their lives.This could be, for example
- supporting people through difficult periods of personal and family crisis
- older people or people with disabilities in need of support to remain in their own home, or requiring respite, residential or nursing care
- services to the Courts and people who have contact with the Criminal Justice System
- a child or young person in need of support and/or protection
- services to the Children,s Panel for youngsters who have been reported to the Authority Reporter
- people with mental health problems, or drug and alcohol dependency
Because of this, Social Work Services have to be wide-ranging. More of these services are now in partnership with other agencies.
