Domestic Abuse Services

What is Domestic Abuse?

Domestic abuse exists in all sections of our communities. Domestic abuse can exist in all types of relationships. Abusers and victims can be male or female, any race or religion and from all different types of background. There is a common misconception that domestic abuse is just physical abuse. This is not the case. Domestic abuse can be physical, sexual, and emotional or mental abuse.

What do I do if this is happening to me or someone I know?

Everyone's situation and circumstances are different; however the need to keep yourself and your children safe is of the utmost importance. Remember it is not your fault and there are others who can help you. If you have concerns about your safety you should contact the police who will be able to assist.

If you need support or advice on anything relating to Domestic Abuse and Gender Based Violence, there are lots of people and organisations, locally and nationally, who can help.

Whether you are currently experiencing violence or abuse, have experienced it in the past, or are worried about somebody else, don't keep it to yourself.

There are free and confidential services available that are specially designed to help women, men, children, young people, members of the LGBT community, and concerned friends and family. See Below for contact numbers:
